Atlanta Police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a 10-year-old boy who has been missing since 1:30 a.m.
Officers said the 10-year-old has mental health issues and that the boy took off running after his aunt took him to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Hughes Spalding Hospital near Grady.
The boy’s aunt told police she was taking him there for treatment when he ran away toward Edgewood Avenue. The hospital said that he was never admitted into the hospital and ran away from the car before arriving in the facility.
He was last seen wearing a black shirt with a picture of his dad on the front and white writing that says “My Dad’s Angel” on the back, blue jeans and no shoes.
Police said K-9 officers immediately began canvasing the area and the search is ongoing. In addition, the child is believed to be suffering a crisis at this time.
“The security team at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is cooperating with the Atlanta Police Department as we are concerned about the safety of this missing child,” the hospital said in a statement to 11Alive.
Those who spot him are asked to call police.
