Bonnie Raitt has been forced to reschedule several concerts citing an unspecified “medical situation” that requires surgery.

The 73-year-old Grammy winner made the announcement on Instagram on Friday.

“Bonnie has a medical situation that requires surgery to address. The doctors say that in order for her to heal properly, they recommend she not perform for a couple of weeks,” the statement said. “Unfortunately, this overlaps our five tour dates in May, and we are very sorry to have to cancel our performance at [Brandi Carlile’s Mothership Weekend] on May 14th and postpone our shows in Athens, Louisville, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh.”

“It’s always upsetting to have to disappoint her fans, band, crew, and our promoters, but sometimes unforeseen things just happen,” the statement continued. “Thankfully, Bonnie’s in great hands. She was so looking forward to these shows, but we’re excited to be able to resume our 2023 tour, now kicking off in Dublin, Ireland, on June 1st.”

“Thank you for your good wishes and understanding, and we very much appreciate your respecting her request for privacy at this healing time.”

As of now Raitt will start her tour in Dublin on June 1 and will continue to play across the U.K. before returning to the US where she we play in Chautauqua, NY on June 24.

Both fans and celebrities took to the comments to wish Raitt well.

“Get well soon Bonnie! We all absolutely ADORE you. Everyone is glad that you’re taking care of yourself and not pushing it,” Brandi Carlile wrote.

“Who cares about the missed concerts? Health comes first. Hope for a quick recovery! We love you Bonnie!” a fan commented.
