It has not been an easy time for Bruce Willis and his family. The actor got diagnosed with Aphasia, a cognitive disorder that impacts a person’s ability to communicate orally and even in writing.
As the family reels from the news of this chronic diagnosis, they are finally welcoming some positive news that surely put a smile on everyone’s faces.
In March 2022, Bruce Willis and his family announced that the actor would be retiring from acting because of a diagnosis that made it almost impossible for him to continue. The actor was diagnosed with Aphasia, which is a cognitive disorder that impacts and impairs a person’s ability to express and also comprehend language.
Willis has been staying out of the public eye ever since the family announced his diagnosis and retirement from acting. However, every now and then someone from his family might post a picture of Willis which lets us know he is doing okay.
Despite how hard it has been recently, the family seems to have a spot of good news recently. While he is married to Emma Heming Willis now, he had previously been married to Demi Moore.
“Bruce was so gallant- in his own boisterous way, a real gentleman. When I said it was time for me to go home, he offered to walk me to my car. He was so eager about it- Like a little boy who didn’t want to miss the ice-cream truck. When he asked for my number, I felt a wave of schoolgirl flutters,” Moore once shared about her first meeting with Willis.
Willis and Moore got married in 1987. During the course of their marriage, they welcomed three daughters in Rumer born 1988, Scout born in 1991, and Tallulah born in 1994.
Just four short years after they had their last baby together, the decided to get divorced in 1998.
In 2000, Bruce said he still loved Demi and talked about their experience co-parenting together. He said, “We have three children whom we will continue to raise together, and we’re probably as close now as we ever were. We realize we have a lifelong commitment to our kids.”
Willis and Moore always shielded their girls from the public eye. Rumer talked about being grateful for this. “I think at that time I didn’t have as much of an understanding of the public side of it to have that affect me as much,” she told Larry King as an adult.
“I’m so thankful and grateful that my parents made such an effort at that time. ‘They always made an effort to do all of the family events still together and made such an effort to still have our family be as one unit, as opposed to two separate things, which I think really made an impact.”
As the child of two major celebrities, she would often be in the public eye which was not always something she wanted. She said, ”I think one of the hardest parts was growing up with having your whole life kind of be on display and have people have an opinion about it.”
”Before you learn how to kind of get a tough skin or to really just have confidence in who you are without letting other people’s opinions affect that, that can sometimes be really hard and really get you down.”
The paparazzi press and blogs in the US started to grow in the mid-2000s, and the likes of famous blogger Perez Hilton bullied Rumer online.
It was, of course, totally unacceptable. Perez Hilton later apologized for some of his behavior.
