Living can be expensive, and that goes all the way to retiring too.

Sometimes, it can seem like life is just about laboring every day just to be sure you’ll have a tomorrow. I can’t blame anyone for worrying about retirement age even if it’s decades away.

This man in Texas dwelled on this exact problem and arrived at a particularly genius solution.

Meet Terry Robison, whose Facebook post on his retirement plan got quite the amount of traction.
The cost of retirement is a bit much for many people. Why should settling down cost so much?

Many seniors in the United States alone are miles away from being able to afford retirement care.

Even with the cost of retirement going down slightly in the last decade, many still live far below the income level to obtain it.

Terry points out that the average cost of living in a retirement home is $188 per day.
Compared to living in a Holiday Inn with a cost of $59.23 per night. So he went with Holiday Inn.

Holiday inn isn’t just cheaper, it also offers more benefits.

Some of these benefits taste pretty good too. Breakfast is free, and is usually quite good.

That frees up a lot of extra money per day to spend on lunch or dinner.

Maybe a single free meal doesn’t sound like much. But add that up every day for several years, and it’ll make a world of a difference.
“Plus, they provide a spa, swimming pool, a workout room, a lounge and washer-dryer etc.”

And those are just the leisurely benefits. The necessities, like breakfast, actually keep on going.

Holiday Inn also provides complimentary toiletries.

You’ll never have to buy soap, toothpaste, or shampoo as long as you’re here.

So far, it’s hard not to see Terry’s point, right?

“$5 worth of tips a day and you’ll have the entire staff scrambling to help you. They treat you like a customer, not a patient.”

That’s a pretty darn good point. This arrangement is mutually beneficial too, it seems!
“There’s a city bus stop out front, and seniors ride free. The handicap bus will also pick you up (if you fake a decent limp). To meet other nice people, call a church bus on Sundays. For a change of scenery, take the airport shuttle bus and eat at one of the nice restaurants there. While you’re at the airport, fly somewhere. Otherwise, the cash keeps building up.”

Yeah, I’m a little convinced now.

It might be a long, long while before I’ll have to start thinking of retirement.

But when that time comes, at least I know what the best option is.

‘It takes months to get into decent nursing homes. Holiday Inn will take your reservation today. “
