Kate Middleton has just revealed that she is in the early stages of cancer treatment. Rumors and speculations about her medical condition have been numerous since her abdominal surgery, and even her marriage to Prince William has been questioned. Moreover, gossip about her relationships with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has been going on for years, and as the Princess of Wales is now ill, it has again received significant attention.
After the surgery, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle contacted Kate Middleton, sending her their best wishes. Reportedly, the same went for when they learned of her cancer diagnosis.
While Kate Middleton received much criticism after the Mother’s Day picture, which turned out to have been manipulated, Harry and Meghan continued their pursuit of success in the US. Sadly, a royal expert claims the Duchess took advantage of Kate’s challenging situation.
Kate Middleton and the royal family have gone through some very tough months of late. Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, was diagnosed with a form of skin cancer in mid-January, and not long after, King Charles was also diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy. Meanwhile, Kate Middleton underwent abdominal surgery, and ever since, speculation about her well-being has been ongoing.
Kate Middleton
At first, Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales was set to return to royal duty after Easter. In the months that followed, no major reports were given on Kate’s health status, and as time went by, conspiracy theories spread online. One was more bizarre than the other, however.
In one way, as Kensington Palace didn’t release any confirmation about the princess’ medical condition and health status, it wasn’t strange that people wondered what had happened—or even feared the worst.
Things escalated as Kate Middleton posted an edited photo of herself, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis for Mother’s Day, which was backlashed. The image of her and her children was manipulated, and news agencies pulled the picture from their websites.
The global news director of Agence France-Presse, one of the world’s biggest news agencies, claimed that Kensington Palace will never be a trusted source again. Meanwhile, CNN announced they would start a thorough investigation into all pictures issued by Kensington Palace in the past to see if any others had been treated with similar editing.
Conspiracy theories grew larger by the hour following the manipulated picture. History repeated itself as once again Harry and Meghan were dragged into the discussion, and as soon as Kate’s surgery was announced, questions were asked about whether Harry and Meghan had reached out.
It didn’t take long before it was confirmed that they indeed had.
A source told the Mirror: “The King and the Princess of Wales have received support from Prince Harry and Meghan regarding their health. “The Duke and Duchess contacted both parties in different ways to pass on their concern and best wishes.”
Kate Middleton – relationship with Meghan Markle
Weeks later, another story emerged about what Meghan had done when she found out about Kate’s surgery. According to US Weekly, Meghan contacted the princess, hoping it would be the first step to ending the feud. The source told the US news outlet that Meghan had contacted Kate – as well as King Charles.
Meanwhile, a second source noted that Meghan has been very “supportive” of Harry’s attempts to reconcile with his family. Also, he “wishes the royals—Kate included—the very best.”
Few have missed the feud between Harry, Meghan, and the royal family. Kate and Meghan were pictured as the royal family’s future together with their respective husbands, but the two didn’t get on well. Things blew up before Meghan’s wedding to Harry took place, and as the two spoke out about their experiences of royal life after leaving The Firm, things took an even uglier turn.
Reports suggest that Harry wants to make amends with his brother, but the future king, Prince William, appears not to be that interested in having anything to do with Harry. The fact that Kate Middleton hasn’t been well and, as mentioned, Meghan, just like her husband, saw that contacting Kate after her surgery could mean a fresh start.
Harry and Meghan were at one point even accused of fueling speculations about Kate Middleton’s health spread online.
Meghan Markle accused of taking advantage of Kate’s Mother’s Day image ‘scandal’
Meanwhile, amid the ‘scandal’ surrounding Kate and the Mother’s Day photo, Meghan Markle appeared to be living her best life.
On March 14, just two days after Mother’s Day, the Duchess of Sussex returned to social media and launched her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.
The Instagram page’s bio reads: “By Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. Established 2024,” with a link to the lifestyle brand’s website.
According to GB News, Meghan Markle is shown cooking in a kitchen and picking flowers in the promotional video. However, the fact that Meghan decided to release the news of her lifestyle brand just days after Kate’s Mother’s Day photo blunder doesn’t sit well with everyone.
Speaking with GB News’ host Mark Dolan, royal expert Kinsey Schofield accused Meghan Markle of taking advantage of Kate’s situation, mainly from a “marketing perspective.”
Further, Schofield said the Duchess of Sussex would “not be enjoying” seeing the consequences of the Mother’s Day picture scandal.
“Even CNN, which has been notoriously critical of the monarchy, cited Meghan’s launch as being suspicious and ill timed, while noting that Catherine is about three times more popular than Meghan,” the royal expert said.
“I don’t know if she’s relishing in it, but I do know that it’s clear she’s taken advantage of it.”
GB News host Mark Dolan added that Meghan is “entitled” to launch a brand “whenever she likes.” He concluded that Harry and Meghan indeed “would challenge the idea” that the Duchess took advantage of Kate’s situation, claiming that the timing was coincidental.
Kate Middleton announces cancer diagnosis
On March 22, Kate Middleton finally spoke out about what was happening. The Princess of Wales has cancer.
The Princess of Wales explained that at the time she underwent the abdominal surgery, it was thought that her condition was non-cancerous, and the surgery was successful. However, when undergoing tests after the operation, doctors found that cancer had been present.
“My medical team, therefore, advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment. This, of course, came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” Kate added.
“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them and to reassure them that I am going to be OK. As I have said to them, I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal: in my mind, body, and spirits.”
Shortly after Kate’s cancer diagnosis was announced, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly once again reached out to Kate. According to The Times, the Susexes learned about Kate’s cancer diagnosis through the television broadcast at the same time as the public.
On Friday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle published a statement of support following Kate Middleton’s cancer announcement.
“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said.
Prince William & Kate Middleton has “no trust” in Prince Harry & Meghan Markle
One might think it strange that Harry and Meghan — despite the ongoing feud — weren’t told about Kate’s cancer diagnosis beforehand. A family source told People the couple was “left out of any details” because there is “clearly no trust.”
“They are aware of everything that goes on back in England, but are being left out of any details regarding Kate,” the source told People Magazine. “There is clearly no trust.”
Another source told the New York Post: “This goes to show the irreparable damage they have caused. The trust has been broken and the royal family is OK distancing themselves from them.”
Meanwhile, royal historian Richard Fitzwilliams argues that this tells the entire story of William and Harry’s relationship.
“There’s a deep rift between the brothers – that we know,” he told The Sun.
“We also know that they haven’t apparently spoken in many months, and the reason, of course, is that for some four years, they’ve caused endless problems to the royal family, and so they can’t be trusted. William hasn’t trusted Harry and Meghan, and I mean with good reason.”
Richard Fitzwilliams added: “We know with Oprah, the Harry and Meghan programme for Netflix, Harry’s book Spare, and then with the interviews surrounding his book there was no reason to monetise their links with the royal family. The trouble is that’s the only thing that appears to have made a lot of money for them. That raises other questions as to what they’ll be doing in the future.”
Prince William and Kate Middleton don’t seem too interested in reuniting with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in any way moving forward. The Princess of Wales is focusing on her cancer treatment with the support of her husband and the rest of the family.
Prince William & Kate Middleton “have no plans for reconciliation”
In the coming weeks, as Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are on a break from school until the summer term begins on April 17, Kate and William will take their children to Anmer Hall at Sandringham for some well-deserved break. Moreover, it is undoubtedly a perfect place where the princess can get some privacy in this challenging situation.
Time will tell if a truce between the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Sussexes will ever happen. However, a Daily Mail source now claims that Prince William and Kate Middleton have taken a “new approach” to Harry and Meghan after the princess’ cancer diagnosis.
The Prince and Princess of Wales “have no plans for reconciliation” when Harry is expected to return to the UK in May. Meanwhile, royal expert Tom Quinn told the Mirror that any meeting between William and Harry will be “very brief.”
“Given Kate’s cancer diagnosis, Harry will certainly make efforts to see his brother and Kate when he returns to the UK in May – if it happens at all it’s to be a very brief carefully choreographed meeting and organised to last a short time so that the brothers can avoid any difficult conversations,” Quinn said.
He added: “At the same time Harry knows how it will look if he comes back to the UK and doesn’t see his brother and Kate. It’s going to be a very awkward time.”
