A devoted husband has shown the world the essence of true love by standing by his wife’s side in the toughest of times. In 2011, his wife sustained severe burns, which distorted her physical appearance beyond recognition.
For many people, falling in love only revolves around a person’s facial features and physical attractiveness. But with time, these material elements subside, and one tends to look for deeper qualities, like personality, dreams, goals, like-mindedness, etc.
However, some things are easier said than done, and loving someone for their beautiful heart and soul may sound like a far-fetched notion. While many people can claim to love someone for who they are, only a chosen few truly mean it.
When a brutal fire damaged almost 64 percent of his wife’s body, Michael Hoskin decided to stay by her side for the rest of their lives. Upon being asked if he ever thought of leaving her, he responded:
“I was attracted to her soul, and her character. She’s the only woman that will continue to fulfill my dreams.”Hoskin’s wife, Turia Pitt, was reportedly trapped by a wildfire during an ultramarathon in Kimberley, Western Australia, in 2011. Resultantly, she lost the fingers and thumb on her right hand and was hospitalized for five months.
Pitt was born in Tahiti and moved to Australia with her parents at the age of three. She grew up in the coastal town of Ulladulla in New South Wales and ran into Hoskin at school. Talking about her life with Hoskin, she added:
“We’ve been through something catastrophic and extremely traumatic and, this may sound naff, but we’re living our best lives and we’re happy.”
Before the tragic grassfire changed her life, Pitt was set to pursue her dream job in Rio Tinto and begin a new life with her now-husband Hoskin. Following the incident, she underwent reconstructive surgeries and physiotherapy for almost two years.
Despite all the odds stacked against them, Hoskin never let go of Pitt’s hand, leading to a romantic proposal in the Maldives in July 2015. The lovely duo tied the knot in 2016. Regarding his beautiful wife, Hoskin added:
“She doesn’t want people to feel sorry for her. She just wants to get on with her life. She’s beautiful, you know, she’s amazing.”
Hoskin also revealed that he had bought the diamond ring for his beloved wife back in 2011 when she was admitted to the intensive care unit.
Pitt and Hoskin are parents to two kids. Their first son, Hakavai, was born in December 2017, while they welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Rahiti, in February 2020. In an exclusive interview, Pitt shared her thoughts on parenthood:
“The main thing I want to teach my kids is resilience – the belief that they not only will go through hard times, but that they can. I’m really passionate about that.”
In addition to having a loving and affectionate husband, Pitt was fortunate to have a mother who taught her to be strong and courageous in life. From her early childhood, her mom was there to support her and helped her become the woman she is today.
